After departure from Juan Pazo as Head of the Customs Collection and Control Agency (ARCA), who will be replaced by Andres Vazquez, Javier Milei is preparing to make another cabinet change official. Economist Daniel Tillard is leaving the presidency of Banco Nación and will be replaced by his number two in the company, Dario Wassermana man in whom Karina Milei, the president’s sister and one of the most powerful residents of the Casa Rosada, has great trust.
Tillard, former head of Bancor (the public bank of Córdoba), had come to the management thanks to Guillermo Francos, former chief of staff of the administration of La Libertad Avanza (LLA). “Phase completed”, Tillard said privately.
In the last hours, the Córdoba economist submitted his resignation from his position. Since Francos was ousted from his position as chief of staff because he was under intense pressure from the internal power struggle between Karina Milei and Santiago Caputo, the president’s chief adviser, he has had no political appointments in the Casa Rosada.
Minutes before 2 p.m., the Ministry of Economy, led by Luis “Toto” Caputo, confirmed in a statement the changes in the leadership of Banco Nación. In the text, Caputo highlighted Tillard’s work: “20,000 mortgage loans were granted and the company increased its market share from 12 to 18 points” -. For his part, the outgoing official thanked Milei and Caputo for their trust.
Tillard and Francos had met during Daniel Scioli’s term as governor of Buenos Aires. They met at Banco Provincia, where Tillard was a manager for eight years.
As expected, the economist will be replaced by Wasserman, current vice president of Banco Nación THE NATION official sources. Both had a good relationship, but Wasserman had an advantage: he had access to the Milei brothers and, above all, to the Secretary General of the Presidency.
Wasserman, a real estate developer who knew how to be close to Pro and who kept a low profile since the beginning of the Libertarian government, is the husband of Pilar RamirezHead of the LLA bloc in the Buenos Aires legislature and executive arm of Karina Milei in the city.
Although he likes to stay in the background, Wasserman has influence over the decision-making of the Libertarian army in the capital. For example, he has close ties to the Menem, the squires of the president’s sister.
Wasserman and Ramírez met the Milei brothers before the 2023 presidential elections. At that time, the ultra-libertarian economist and his main adviser were looking for contacts in the business world to support the dream of achieving the Casa Rosada. Wasserman and Ramírez opened the doors of their home to them and helped them build bridges to the establishment. This is how they built a close bond with the Milei.
After the LLA defeated the PJ in the runoff, the Milei reserved a relevant place for Wasserman and Ramírez in the new power structure. While the president’s sister chose the former Aerolíneas Argentinas official as her deputy in the capital – empowering her to oust the wayward Ramiro Marra and Eugenio Casielles – Wasserman was named vice president of the Banco Nación.
