A security guard was shot dead by the owner of a luxury car after an altercation at a shopping center in Palmas (TO), on Saturday evening (29).
According to the police, preliminary information indicates that the friction resulted from the way the driver parked the car, a Range Rover Evoque.
Security guard Demis Augusto Santos, 35, was hit in the stomach and was rescued by SAMO (Mobile Emergency Service) at Palmas General Hospital, but he did not survive his injuries.
Surveillance cameras in the mall captured the moment of the shooting. The suspect, whose name has not been released, has already been identified, but has not yet been found by authorities.
According to military police, he allegedly shot the guard after receiving instructions to park the car and then fled the mall.
The army, supported by the Special Police Operations Battalion, the Tactical Force and civilian police officers, traveled in the early hours of Sunday (30) to the home of the suspect, who was not at the scene.
Civilian police said they found ammunition and pistol magazines in the house, in addition to a Range Rover Evoque, which underwent a forensic examination.
The company says it has begun collecting witness statements to understand the motive behind the murder.
The Civil Police said in a statement, “The information collected so far indicates that the perpetrator and the victim did not know each other and that the crime was motivated by a trivial quarrel over the way the shooter parked the car.”
The organization confirmed that the procedures focused on locating the suspect.
Aldea Mall, the shopping center where the security guard works, expressed its solidarity with the worker’s family, friends and colleagues, and said the violence “causes intense pain and indignation.”
He added, “We affirm our rejection of any form of violence, and we trust the work of the responsible authorities to clarify the facts and implement justice with all decisiveness.”
