The Minister of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) Dias Toffoli ordered this Monday that the Federal Police immediately collect interviews with those investigated in the Banco Master case and with the leaders of the Central Bank.
In this Monday’s decision, Toffoli claims to have verified the “absolute need to take urgent measures” after the preliminary analysis of the documents “not only for
the success of investigations, but also as a measure to protect the national financial system and the people who use it.
Without naming names – the process takes place in secret – Toffoli ordered the hearing of those questioned to obtain clarifications, details and documents.
Without specifying the authorities, the STF Minister ordered “the hearing of the leaders of the Central Bank of Brazil on issues falling within their responsibility concerning the activities of Banco Master and possible developments involving other financial institutions.”
Toffoli also leaves open the possibility of presentation, by the PF delegate in charge of the investigation, of requests for individual violations of the telephone, telematic and fiscal secrecy of those questioned and third parties.
At the beginning of the month, Toffoli brought the bank’s case before the STF, while waiting for the competent judicial body to handle the matter to be defined.
