The Local Government Commission of the Toledo City Council approved during its extraordinary session the request for designation of Toledo as European Capital of Culture for the year 2031as well as the application program and the declaration of … that the city is not in any situation that would prevent it from receiving awards from the European Union.
Toledo thus takes a new step towards becoming European Capital of Culture in 2031, after the official presentation at the Rojas Theater, reaffirm commitment to culture as a driver of developmentcohesion and social transformation, the municipal council said in a press release.
The Councilor for Culture, Ana Pérez, stressed that this candidacy “is a major opportunity for restore the light of Europe to Toledo“, collecting the best of our heritage and projecting it into the future.”
