The municipal register of residents of Toledo continues to increase. This demographic growth is reflected in a generalized manner in most districts of the city, with a particular impact on the historic center, Santa Bárbara and Santa María de Benquerencia, which concentrate almost 80 percent of the total increase per district.
More precisely, the The historic center welcomes 265 new residentswhile Santa Bárbara experiences an increase of 486 inhabitants. The greatest growth is recorded in Santa María de Benquerencia, which gains 553 inhabitants, thus consolidating itself as one of the main centers of demographic expansion in the city.
Next to these neighborhoods, the population increase in Azucaica, with 222 additional inhabitantsa figure similar to that recorded jointly in Valparaíso, La Legua and Cigarrales de Vistahermosa, which welcomed an additional 222 new residents.
More moderate increases
Other districts of the capital show more moderate increases. This is the case of Cigarrales–Cerro de los Palos, with 44 new inhabitants, and of the Tres Culturas district, which adds 42 new inhabitants. Furthermore, Vega Baja, San Pedro el Verde and Circo Romano increase their population by 33 inhabitantss.
The growth also affects, although more lightly, Santa Teresa – Avenue de la Reconquista, with 19 additional inhabitants; Antequeruela-Covachuelas, with 18; San Antón–Europe Avenue, with 16, and the industrial zone of Santa María de Benquerencia, which recorded an increase of 4 people.
Four neighborhoods are losing population
On the contrary, four Toledo neighborhoods lost population last year. The most pronounced decrease occurs in Palomarejoswith 167 fewer inhabitants, followed by Buenavistawhich loses 136 neighbors. The Bastide, Saint BernardMontesión and Olivar Pozo, with three fewer inhabitants, and Saint Martinwith a loss of two inhabitants.
