THE Niterói Academics decided to speak out after rumors circulated about internal difficulties in preparation for Carnival 2026.
What happened
In recent days, rumors have circulated behind the scenes of the carnival world that professionals who frequent the Cidade do Samba are reporting problems at the blue and white barracão, including the lack of materials and the possibility of reducing the number of elements of the parade that will pay homage to President Lula.

The school has spoken
The repercussions would have caused the affair to reach Brasilia and raised questions about the fate of an alleged sponsorship discussed behind the scenes.
In light of these speculations, the school sent an official note to the Fábia Oliveira column denying any irregularity.
Management said there was no promise, agreement or guarantee of sponsorship from the Federal Government for next year’s field. According to the press release, the choice of theme aims solely to highlight the heritage of the winner, without any link with the financial support of public organizations.

Everything works normally
The Academicos de Niterói also assured that the hangar continues to operate normally. According to the note, the project signed by carnivalist Tiago Martins is in full development and is progressing according to the schedule defined by the artistic team.
The management also stressed that all activities continue to be carried out and that preparation for the debut in the Special Group remains within the planned schedule.

“Acadêmicos da Niterói hereby clarifies the information transmitted regarding Carnival 2026.
We also inform you that there is no promise, agreement or guarantee of sponsorship or support from the Federal Government for the said carnival. The chosen land has the sole objective of exalting the heritage of the winner, respecting his history, his cultural relevance and his contribution to the country.
We also emphasize that the school hangar is fully operational and that all activities are taking place normally. The project developed by carnival artist Tiago Martins is in full execution, strictly following the schedule proposed by the artist.
