The President of the United States, Donald Trump, congratulated this Tuesday the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Andrej Babis, pointing to the cooperation between both countries following the appointment of the Czech this Tuesday following the victory of his party, the conservative ANO (Yes), in the elections last October.
“It is a pleasure that Andrej Babis is once again appointed Prime Minister of the Czech Republic,” he said on the Truth Social network, assuring that together they will “once again achieve great successes in the areas of defense, energy and illegal immigration,” alluding to the previous mandates of both leaders.
In this regard, the White House tenant said that Babis “knows how to close deals, and I expected incredible things from him, including what has to do with the F-35 (aircraft).”
Like Trump, the Czech led his country between 2017 and 2021 and would now join the EU-critical bloc, which also includes Robert Fico in Slovakia and Viktor Orbán in Hungary, who are close to him.
However, he may still face a court conviction for a fraud case related to the agro-industrial consortium Agrofert, a matter that remains unresolved even after his acquittal has been overturned and which could lead to a conflict of interest, although Babis has promised to distance himself completely from it.
