The Secretary of Defense of the United States, Pete Hegseth, defended this Saturday 6 the attacks carried out by the American army against boats allegedly used to transport drugs, in the Pacific. According to him, President Donald Trump has the power to take military actions “as he sees fit” to defend the Americans.

Hegseth rejected criticism from the international community, saying the attacks were justified to protect the country’s citizens.

“If you work for a designated terrorist organization and you bring drugs into this country by boat, we will find you and sink you. Make no mistake,” Hegseth said, emphasizing that Trump “can and will take decisive military action as he sees fit to defend our nation’s interests.”

The most recent attack brought the death toll to at least 87. Parliamentarians asked the government for more answers on this matter and on the legal justification for the attacks.
