MADRID, December 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –
US President Donald Trump has insisted Washington will soon launch ground attacks against suspected drug traffickers in Latin America and claimed his government “knows everything about them”, as the international community condemns its bombing campaign against suspected drug traffickers in the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean.
“We have taken a very tough stance, and people appreciate it,” he said at an event at the US State Department headquarters. “The flow of drugs to our country by sea has decreased by 94 percent. I’m trying to find out where the remaining six percent come from, because they have to be the bravest people,” he said.
Thus, he stressed that the next stage of these operations will include ground attacks. “We are going to start doing the same thing on earth, since we know every route, every building and where (the suspects) live. We know everything about them,” stressed the White House tenant.
Trump also pointed out that “300,000 people” died last year in the United States due to drug use. “It’s like a war, a terrible war. I’m not going to let this continue,” he said, despite criticism of his government for these bombings against ships in international waters, which have already left more than 80 dead.
The US president himself this week said he was “eliminating these sons of bitches”, referring to suspected drug traffickers, while US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said attacks on ships in the Caribbean Sea and the Eastern Pacific “have barely started”.
