MADRID, December 12 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced this Friday that the authorities of Cambodia and Thailand have agreed to stop “tonight” border attacks, which have increased in recent days despite the peace agreement signed in October in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur.
“This morning I had a very good conversation with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet about the unfortunate resurgence of their long war. They agreed to stop all shooting from tonight and return to the original peace agreement signed with me, (and) with the help of the great Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim,” he said.
Trump maintained that the bomb that reignited the fighting, and which “killed and injured many Thai soldiers,” was “an accident, but Thailand responded strongly.” However, he assured through a message on his Truth Social profile that “the two countries are ready to make peace and continue trade with the United States.”
“It is an honor for me to work with Anutin and Hun to resolve what could have escalated into a major war between two otherwise wonderful and prosperous countries. I would also like to thank the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, for his assistance in this important matter,” concluded the tenant of the White House.
