The American President Donald Trump on Sunday expressed doubts about Netflix’s takeover of historic Hollywood studio Warner Bros. Discovery, believing that the streaming giant already has “a large part of the market” and that “this could be a problem”.
“ … “I will participate in this decision.”Trump said upon arrival at the Kennedy Center Honors awards ceremony, referring to the decision facing federal regulators valuing the deal at nearly $83 billion.
The proposal raised antitrust concerns and the indignation of the Hollywood elite.
Trump claimed that Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandosrecently visited him at the White House and said that “he did some of the best work in the history of cinema.”
If the operation were to succeed, Netflix would acquire a huge catalog of films and the prestigious streaming service HBO Max.
This is the largest transaction in the sector since Disney bought Fox for $71 billion in 2019.
