Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) plans to begin transferring chip manufacturing equipment to its second factory in Arizona (United States) from mid-2026. This will pave the way for production of 3-nanometer chips to start in 2027, according to Nikkei Asia.
Currently, the most modern commercial-scale chips are 2 nanometers. The lower the number, the more miniaturized the chip, allowing for more circuits and more operations within the component.
