In a shooting that occurred this Saturday (December 13, 2025) on the campus of Brown University in the USA, two people died and eight others were seriously injured, authorities reported.
“I confirm that two people have died this afternoon and that eight others are in serious condition,” Providence, Rhode Island, Mayor Brett Smiley said at a news conference.
“We have not arrested the attacker at this time,” he said.
The attack occurred on the campus of Brown University in the northeastern United States, local police reported.
“Take shelter and avoid the area until further notice,” said police in Providence, the capital of Rhode Island, where Brown University is located.
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated on his Truth Social platform that he was aware of the situation and that the FBI was on site.
At 5:52 p.m. local time (11:52 p.m.), Brown University said the situation was “ongoing” and urged its students to shelter in place until further notice.
After Trump initially stated that the suspect had been arrested, he posted a second message stating that local police had retracted that announcement. “The suspect has NOT been arrested,” said the US President.
