British artist Banksy confirmed this Monday the authorship of two identical murals that appeared in London, in which The protagonists are two children in winter clothes. The two children, equipped with snow boots, coats and wool hats, are lying on the ground while one of them points to the sky.
One of the murals was painted by the mysterious graffiti artist on some garages in Queen’s Mews, Bayswaterwhile the second decorates a wall of the Center Point skyscraper, in the heart of the United Kingdom’s capital.
In statements to the BBC, artist Daniel Lloyd-Morgan interpreted this new work by Banksy as a call for attention to the problem of homeless children. “Everyone is having a good time, but “Many children do not have a good time at Christmas” » said Lloyd-Morgan, who however lamented that people seemed to be “ignoring” the mural.
“It’s a very busy area. It’s very striking Don’t let people stop. They pass homeless people and don’t see them lying in the street. It’s like they’re looking at the stars,” like the children in the fresco, he explained.
Hopefully these new Banksy works will last longer than the one that appeared last September on the exterior wall of London’s High Court, which was removed by the authorities very soon after. This fresco showed a judge, with a wig and a robehitting with a sledgehammer a person holding a blood-stained banner, interpreted as criticism of the repression of freedom of expression.
The artist, whose identity is kept secretis known for defending social, political and environmental issues in different parts of the world through his street art.
