The explosion in Moscow occurred near the place where Fanil Sarvarov, Lieutenant General of the Russian General Staff, was murdered a few days ago.
“An explosive device was detonated” as police approached the suspect, who was near his official vehicle, said a statement from the local investigative committee, which investigates serious crimes. Investigators apparently inspected the site and conducted various analyses.
Some attacks claimed by Ukraine
The area was cordoned off and a large police presence was deployed, according to images shown on Russian television.
Since Moscow began its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Kiev has been accused of several attacks on Russian military officers and pro-Kremlin figures in Russia and on occupied parts of its own territory. Ukraine has claimed responsibility for some of the attacks.
