For the first time, Apple bet, in the same launch, on iPhones with different configurations and camera designs. The range extends from the iPhone 17 Pro, with three rear lenses, to the iPhone Air, which has only one, and the iPhone 17, with a dual set. With systems combining 24 MP and 48 MP images, the question arises among consumers: after all, which model offers the best photography experience?

Although each model has its own layout, all three devices feature a “Fusion” camera system, with a resolution of 48 MP. This technology combines hardware and software resources, allowing very high resolution capture to generate final photos in 24 MP. The goal is to reduce file size while maintaining image quality, such as brightness and colors.
But there are differences. Indeed, the iPhone 17 has two rear cameras, the main and the ultra-angular (with a wider field of vision). So the combination between 24 MP and 48 MP is done in photos captured with both lenses. The same goes for the iPhone 17 Pro, which has three rear cameras: the main one, the ultra-wide-angle camera and the telephoto lens (which allows you to zoom in on the image).

The difference between the models is the level of optical zoom. In the case of the iPhone Air, there is the 2x option. On iPhone 17, both 0.5x and 2x options are available. The main novelty appears in the iPhone 17 Pro, which offers 0.5x, 2x, 4x and 8x optical zoom. In other words, for those looking for more flexibility in capturing distant images, the ideal is to opt for models allowing greater proximity.
In addition, only the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro have macro photography, a feature that allows you to automatically capture very close-up images without losing focus. Therefore, users looking for photos with different framing should ideally look for models that offer more lens options.

In common, all three models feature the new generation of Portrait mode photos, with focus and depth control. In this system, devices automatically identify important people, animals or objects, recording what is in the foreground and what is in the background. Additionally, the user can change the focus once the photo is taken. It is also possible to adjust the intensity of the background blur, thereby increasing the feeling of depth.
All three models also allow recording videos with Dolby Vision technology up to 4K (resolution four times higher than Full HD) at 120 frames per second. In practice, this means that the video captures 120 frames per second, making movements smoother.

For photos taken in selfie mode, there is no difference between the models. All three devices feature the “Center Stage” front camera, a system that uses artificial intelligence to always keep the person in the center of the frame, even when they move during a video call or recording.
With 18 MP on all models, the front camera captures more details and allows the system to make cuts and adjustments to the image without losing quality.
The various artificial intelligence functions of the iPhone Air are possible because the model has the A19 Pro processor, the same as the Pro line, which uses AI to improve the performance and processing of the device.
