The Union of Artists and Technicians of Entertainment Shows of the State of São Paulo (Sated-SP) said Monday that it had sent union delegates to the set of the film “Dark Horse”, a film that aims to tell the story of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and which is scheduled to premiere in 2026. The association says it received complaints on Friday about poor working conditions for actors and extras.

“Sated-SP has received reports of several concerning situations, both from extras and actors. Supervisory union delegates visited the recording site to speak with the film’s crew and production, presenting the complaints received and requesting that necessary measures be taken to ensure that the artists are treated in accordance with Sated’s regulations,” the union said.
GLOBO contacted federal deputy Mário Frias (PL-SP), who signed the production and script of the film, but received no response until the report was published. It will be updated if there is a response.
The film will adopt a heroic narrative and present the former president as the “unlikely winner” of the election. The plot will also include Bolsonaro’s military past and his actions against drug trafficking. Adélio will be represented under a fictitious name.
Dark Horse aims to reach an international audience by reconstructing the political trajectory of Bolsonaro, currently sentenced by the STF to 27 years and 3 months in prison for attempted coup d’état and in pre-trial detention since November 22.
Leaked images from the filming of the feature film “Dark Horse” (“The outsider”, in free translation) show American actor Jim Caviezel, who will play Bolsonaro, embodying the episode of the stabbing suffered by the former president in 2018, in Juiz de Fora (MG), during the electoral race.
The casting relies on international names such as Lynn Collins (John Carter – Between Two Worlds) and Esai Morales (Mission: Impossible – The Final Score), as well as Brazilian Felipe Folgosi, who plays a federal police officer.
Director Cyrus Nowrasteh is 69 years old and is also known for his religious-themed films such as “The Stoning of Soraya M.” (2008), “The Young Messiah” (2016) and “International Kidnapping” (2019).
