It took us three years to get back to Hawkins, but fortunately it was worth the wait. Netflix I have already released the first volume of the fifth and final season of Strange things (Volume 2 premieres December 26, and the final episode January 1.) So far, the Duffers have convinced critics and audiences to deliver the most mature, sinister, and ambitious show ever created.
The four episodes that can now be enjoyed on the platform have fulfilled all aspects, including also in terms of character development. From the MAC-Z facilities to the military base on the Upside Down, through the corridors of the Hawkins Institute, we witnessed the protagonists’ journey of transformation: Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) dealing with grief after the death of Eddie (Joseph Quinn), Will (Noah Schnapp) embracing his power, Max (Sadie Sink) trapped in the mind of Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower)…
The additions of Holly (Neil Fisher) and Derek (Jake Connelly) only added to a quality cast that was once again enjoying a great season. It is strange that this installment marked a milestone related to the interaction between its heroes. Up until the first volume of Season 5, Episode 3 to be exact, there were two main characters who had never exchanged a word with each other. Do you know who we are referring to?

Strange things He paid great attention to the relationships between his heroes. Although he often separated his paths, dividing them into different groups, he also gave us unexpected but absolutely wonderful friendships. Steve (Joe Keery) and Dustin became close in the second season, and although they both created equally close relationships in the following parts (Steve with Robin – Maya Hawke – or Dustin with Eddie), the duo remains one of our favorites on screen.
As we can see, Steve can boast that he has created the most entertaining and likable dynamics with the other characters in the series. But despite his social personality and his constant presence in every mission to kill Vicna, Ex-Nancy (Natalia Dyer) never spoke to another protagonist until season five. And we mean woe, The boy whose kidnapping by Vecna started this whole mess.
Thus, Steve and Will never spoke until the first volume of the final part of the book Strange things. As more committed fans have warned (via Games Radar), The characters shared a group conversation in Part 3, when Steve allowed the young heroes to sneak into the cinema through the ice cream parlor where he worked. However, on this occasion, Steve addressed the entire group, not Will specifically.
The post includes some surprised reactions from viewers to the revelation. “Five seasons and Steve and Will have worked as co-workers on different shifts,” one follower noted, while another justified this decision: “Because Jonathan hates Steve and Will knows it, that’s why Will avoids contact with Steve.”
Whatever it was, the first volume had finally forced them to talk. In the episode Revolving bow trap Steve asks Will: “Did you see through Vecna’s eyes or Derek’s?” “Both…it was inside us, but inside Derek’s mind,” Will replies.
It’s hard to believe that during all these years, Steve and Will have not had more conversations, although it is true that their plots have practically never intersected. Aside from Dustin, Steve didn’t interact much with the youngsters, and Will, for his part, starred in most of the scenes with his friends and family or Vecna and his cronies.
We will have to wait until December 26 to find out if there will be a second interaction between them or, on the contrary, this question from Episode 3 is the only moment they share on screen.
