The American army destroyed two more suspected drug boats in the international waters of the Eastern Pacific and He killed five crew members who, according to Washington, would have participated in “drug trafficking operations”.
The two “deadly kinetic” attacks took place this Thursday under the orders of Secretary of War Pete Hegseth as part of Operation “Southern Spear” against drug trafficking that the administration of President Donald Trump is carrying out in the Caribbean and Pacific areas, Southern Command reported on its official X account.
“Intelligence services confirmed that the ships used known drug trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and participated in drug trafficking operations. In total, five narcoterrorists died during these actions: three on the first ship and two on the second,” the military command said.
Southern Command shared a video showing the bombardment of the two boats, which were quickly engulfed in flames after the impacts. With this new attack they are already adding More than thirty boats destroyed and at least a hundred people killedsupposedly associated with organized crime, as part of the campaign launched by Trump last August.
It coincides with increased congressional scrutiny over the legality of U.S. actions against these so-called drug boats, following the controversial bombing that killed two survivors of an initial attack Sept. 2 in the Caribbean, which experts say could be considered a crime.
The vast American military deployment in the Caribbean, the largest in decades, increased pressure on the government of Venezuelan President Nicolas Madurothat Washington accuses of leading the Cartel of the Suns, which Caracas denies.
