MADRID, December 23 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The US military announced Monday the death of a person aboard a boat it attacked while sailing in the waters of the eastern Pacific, a new action as part of its so-called campaign against drug trafficking which has already left more than a hundred dead.
“The death of a narcoterrorist was confirmed during this action,” indicated the Southern Command of the American armed forces (Southcom) on its social network account X, regarding an attack which caused no injuries in its ranks.
The military justified the “deadly kinetic” attack, ordered by Pentagon chief Pete Hegsteh, by alleging the ship was “operated by designated terrorist organizations.”
“Intelligence confirmed that the vessel was using known drug trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was participating in drug smuggling operations,” it said in the brief release.
The total number of victims of the campaign of attacks launched in September and later called “Southern Spear” against suspected drug boats in the Pacific and the Caribbean now exceeds 100.
