The United States intercepted the third tanker near the coast of Venezuela, as part of the maritime blockade ordered by the government of Donald Trump. Information about the interception comes from the Bloomberg news agency. Reuters says the ship was still being pursued by the U.S. Navy until this report was published. And the ship would be the Panamanian-flagged tanker Bella 1, which had been the target of American sanctions.

Trump confirms seizure of oil tanker off Venezuela
The action comes after Trump announced he would block “sanctioned oil tankers” in the Venezuelan Caribbean region. The first seizure of a Venezuelan ship took place on the 10th, and the one reported this Sunday (12/21) is the second this weekend.
The seizure of the tankers is part of an order issued by Trump for the air and naval blockade of Venezuela. The measure includes the interception of U.S.-sanctioned vessels entering or exiting Venezuelan territory carrying oil.
The measure to intercept Venezuelan oil ships was taken in the face of escalating tensions between the two countries. According to Trump, this will be done until Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro leaves the country.
So far, the Trump administration has not yet made a comment.
