This result represents an improvement compared to the revised figure of 192 thousand orders from the previous week and is below the consensus of analysts consulted by the Wall Street Journal, who mentioned 223 thousand new orders.
The four-week rolling average of new claims decreased by 1,000 claims from last week’s revised figure, to 216,750 claims.
Continuing orders for the week ending November 29 totaled 1.838 million, a decrease of 99 thousand from the previous figure. The four-week rolling average stood at 1.918 million, a decrease of 27 thousand continuing claims from the last reading of 1.945 million.
