The PSPV-PSOE demanded this Thursday from the national president of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, that he hand over to the judge in charge of investigating the case for the responsibilities derived from the management of the disaster of October 29, 2024, the entire conversation he had on Whatsapp with the former president Carlos Mazón that day. Feijóo is called to testify on January 9 and has requested to do so electronically.
The PP made public this Wednesday, a few hours before the Christmas Eve celebration, that it had transmitted the messages of WhatsApp that he received from the former president. But in his list he did not include those that he himself had sent to Mazón, alleging that the magistrate had not requested them. Communications, according to the notarial deed, begin at 8:08 p.m. with a brief “Thank you Presi” from Mazón in response to a message of support from Feijóo at the time president. This means that Mazón responded to the leader of the PP when the dana had already been wreaking havoc in the province of Valencia for hours and had claimed the majority of the 230 deaths and, therefore, refuted Feijóo himself, who had declared that he had been quickly informed by Mazón. “This is going to be a fucking disaster, President,” the former president wrote to Feijóo that evening.
“Feijóo should take advantage of his summons before Judge Dana to clarify the whole truth about what happened and this requires handing over not only the messages he received from Mazón, but also those that Feijóo himself sent him,” the socialist leadership stressed.
For Valencian socialists, Mr. Feijóo’s way of collaborating with Justice is a “strange way, acting with opacity, imposture and bad art”. “The Valencians are wondering what Mr. Feijóo is hiding,” warns the PSPV-PSOE, which denounces that the attitude of the PP leader constitutes “a lack of respect and contempt for the victims on the part of someone who aspires to govern the Spanish people.”
The Valencian socialists also denounce that the national president of the PP “lied to all Valencians when he declared that he had been informed in real time since Monday 28. And now he is lying in his letter to the judge of Catarroja when he points out that he got the day wrong and that it was a mistake.” “Just listen to his statements that day. There were no mistakes, but lies to conceal the management of the PP and the Valencian Government.”
For the PSPV-PSOE, in the writings provided by Feijóo, it is “obvious, once again”, that former President Mazón “already knew that night the seriousness of the catastrophe”, which is why he urges the leaders of the PP to “tell the whole truth and stop hiding in lies and traps”.
Furthermore, the PSPV-PSOE regrets that Feijóo “cannot take advantage of Christmas Eve to cover up the greatest tragedy that the Valencian Community has known.” “Feijóo is responsible for supporting the lies of Mazón and his party for more than a year,” they say.
The emergency spokesperson for the Valencian courts and secretary of the commission of inquiry into Dana, Alicia Andújar, criticized the fact that Feijóo “spent a year covering for Mazón and is now hiding information from the judge in Catarroja.”
“Why are you hiding your messages? What are you afraid of, Feijóo?” » asked the socialist deputy, so that “there are no shortcomings here. What there is here is a permanent desire to conceal the negligent management of the Popular Party and the Valencian Government.” “It is for this reason that the Socialist Party demands that Feijóo deliver the entire conversation with Mazón, because we are fed up with call lists and handmade messages,” he stressed.
