Corinthians and Vasco remained goalless on Wednesday evening at the Neoquímica Arena in the first match of the Copa do Brasil final. Even though the confrontation was charged, the teams did not have many clear chances to win. The return duel will take place on Sunday, at 6 p.m., at the Maracanã.
Playing at home, Corinthians almost opened the scoring by putting pressure on Vasco’s ball. After Memphis Depay disarmed Carlos Cuesta, Yuri passed to Breno Bidon, who eliminated him. A few minutes later, the Dutchman found the net, but was offside.
Vasco was also disallowed a goal by the referee. On this occasion, Andrés Gómez lined up and made a pass to Rayan to find himself facing Hugo Souza.
Just like in the first half, the match remained truncated after the break. Known for his physical strength, Cauan Barros headed towards the post after a corner taken by Philippe Coutinho. For his part, Gustavo Henrique won the match high, but could not put as much force on the ball.
In the final straight, Léo Jardim, hero of the semi-final against Fluminense, shone again with a difficult save after a shot from Yuri Alberto. The move was canceled due to offside.
