Despite the US blockade, Venezuela sent another oil tanker
Rodríguez stressed that “Venezuela has always respected national and international legality and will continue to do so,” while reaffirming the country’s determination to continue moving forward despite external pressure.
“Nothing and no one will stop our homeland on its path of progress and victory,” the Executive Vice President said in her official statement broadcast on the Telegram network.
The announcement comes amid high tensions after US forces attacked an oil tanker carrying 1,900,000 barrels of Venezuelan crude oil on December 10.
On this occasion, the Venezuelan authorities condemned the seizure of the oil, the ship and the restraint of the crew, describing the incident as grand theft and piracy.
Caracas on Saturday condemned a second attack by the United States on a ship carrying Venezuelan oil, whose crew continued to be forcibly disappeared.
These events are added, according to the Venezuelan authorities, to an unprecedented military operation by the United States in Caribbean waters near Venezuela, as well as serious threats recently made against the South American country.
The Venezuelan government has reiterated that it will continue to defend its sovereignty, energy resources and respect for international law against what it considers arbitrary and hostile actions by the White House.
