Even without winning the fifth championship, the Dutchman showed resilience and finished the season as runner-up, leaving his mark in Formula 1.
Max Verstappen has led a turnaround in Formula 1 that even the best scriptwriters couldn’t imagine. In a season marked by a dominant McLaren, he managed to extract important points, maintain his distance from his rivals and arrive in Abu Dhabi with still a chance of winning the title.
For Verstappen and Red Bull, the fourth championship did not materialize, but the Dutchman was not disappointed with his second place. After crossing the finish line in Abu Dhabi, he addressed the team on the radio:
“Don’t be disappointed, I’m certainly not. We can be proud of our comeback. Thanks to everyone, including Honda, for the last few years. We finished on a high note.”
Despite not winning five consecutive titles in Formula 1 history, Verstappen entered the category with a heroic turnaround, showing resilience and talent until the last moment.
