A video recorded by a man shows the moment a baby just over a year old was found alone in the street, dirty and in pajamas, in the early hours of the morning, in Três Coroas, Vale do Paranhana, Rio Grande do Sul (RS).
In the images, the baby can be seen sitting on the ground. In another, the child appears lying on the asphalt.

The boy was barefoot and crying when he was spotted by a man who lives in the area and was leaving for work. Aside from him, no other adults were seen nearby.

Abandonment
In the column, the delegate in charge of the investigation, Ivanir Caliari, informed that the case is being investigated for abandonment of an incapable person.
“We opened an investigation for abandonment of an incapable person, taking into account the situation of the child, who was in the middle of a road, posing a risk to his physical integrity and his own life. The investigation procedure was opened to determine the responsibility of the mother, who was at the residence, and her boyfriend,” he explained.
He said the mother and stepfather say he left the house, left the door open and the child ended up crawling in the middle of the street.
“This is the version presented by both. So far, we have not found any images that prove exactly how the child ended up there or that fully corroborate this version,” he stressed.
The investigation is not yet closed. Civil police continue to search for more evidence.
“If this version remains, given the materiality of the risk to which the child was exposed, there is a possibility of indictment for the offense of abandoning an incapable person. However, there has not yet been a formal indictment”< he added.
As the incident occurred early in the morning, at a time of poor visibility, no witnesses can accurately report what happened.
