The lack of administrative work of the Vox parliamentary group in the Cortes of Castile-La Mancha ended up costing it 34,345 euros. This is the amount that the party transferred to its national management as “remaining unemployed”a concept expressly invalidated by … the Intervention of the Regional Courts to be “null and void”, while The PSOE and the PP also made transfers to their political partiesbut through collaboration agreements which detail and justify the services provided. The Vox case, on the other hand, lacked this legal cover and has already forced the money back.
The origin of the problem lies in the “extraordinary clause” included by Vox in the agreement that governs its economic relations with the party, according to which “at the end of the calendar year, the Vox parliamentary group will pay Vox the unused excess amount”. The intervention is brutal: This clause is “null and void”. for violating the legal system and should be considered “not installed”.
The reason is clear: the subsidies granted by the Cortes of Castile-La Mancha to parliamentary groups can only be used to finance their institutional activity. If part of the money is not used, it must be returned to the Chamber itself. It can only be transferred to the political party if there is a collaboration agreement detailing the services the party provides to the group and their cost. Vox, unlike the PSOE and the PP, did not validly draft this agreement.
The Intervention recalls that the Court of Auditors recommends that all economic relations between parties and institutional groups be formalized by agreements specifying services, costs and supporting documents. This is the consolidated practice in the PSOE and the PP, but not in Vox, which opted for an inadequate mechanism with no legal basis.
The immediate consequence was the irregular transfer of 34,345.64 euros to Vox at national levelan operation that the Intervention considers illegitimate due to a lack of consideration and control. The reimbursement took place on September 29, 2025, forcing the parliamentary group to make accounting adjustments to reflect the true picture of its accounts. The transfer that Vox envisaged in an agreement with the party at national level amounts to 161,901.43 euros.
The transfer of the PSOE
For his part, the socialists justified 415,979.35 euros, 43% of its grant, through a collaboration agreement dated December 31, 2024 which details the services, amounts and documentary support.
In the case of the PSOE, the agreement provides that 18% of transfers (74,480.12 euros) were allocated to party personnel who provide services to the group; 12% (49,923.72 euros) advertising and propaganda; 11% (45,689.70 euros) polls and surveys; 8.6% (35,946.52 euros) to public events; and 7% (29,154.88 euros) at Regional Committee meetings. All this duly accredited.
The PP is the one that pulls the most
The Popular Party went even further in terms of economic volume: transferred 425,000 euros60.9% of its subsidy, to the PP of Castilla-La Mancha. It also did so through a collaboration agreement, dated May 15, 2025, which details the services provided to the group and the corresponding documentary support.
In the details of the PP, 30.4% (129,650 euros) was allocated to the amortization of a loan from previous years; 20% (86,022.15 euros) to party staff serving the group; 4.7% (20,004.95 euros) to the personal income tax levy; 19.4% (82,597.84 euros) maintaining the regional headquarters; 13.8% (58,629.01 euros) travel; 5.7% (24,616.30 euros) to surveys; and 3.2% (13,854.13 euros) to public events.
In this way, the control of the Cortes shows the management models of parliamentary subsidies: PSOE and PP, which act with detailed agreements and exhaustive documentation; and Vox, which used an illegal clause and an inapplicable concept to transfer funds to your national party without justifying any consideration.
And Vox’s administrative inexperience came to an end costing 34,000 eurosa bill that highlights the importance of knowing – and following – the procedure.
