Two of the five Argentines accused of a robbery at a mall in Miami, USA, spoke for the first time, explaining that “we are not VIP lighters” and that it was a “confusing episode.” They must return to this country at the end of January 2026 to continue the case.
“We are not VIP lighters, we are workers,” said Mauricio and Juan Pablo, who explained what the situation is after they were accused by the US justice system of stealing in different places in the Dolphin Mall.
Both explained that they had entered the mall with the other three friends and that they had empty suitcases to put everything they had bought: “In the food court the police stop us, they ask us to open them, and we had tickets for a lot of things, but we didn’t have tickets for others, so they take us to the police station there.”
“The next day they read us the charges, set bail for our release and we did not defend ourselves because that was not the case,” they noted. “We are independent. The only thing we do is work,” said the two Mendoza residents in dialogue with the TN media.
Regarding the current situation, they said that none of them had been deported and that they had paid bail: “We left the United States without any problems. As far as immigration is concerned, there is no case against us. It is just a report.”
Because it is expected to be a laborious and extensive process, they must return to the United States on January 29 to continue the matter. “It is easy to make it clear that there is no organization here and that they also robbed,” said lawyer Roberto Castillo.
