The storm between the Popular Party and Vox in Extremadura does not calm down. The president of the Board of Directors and candidate of the PP for re-election, Maria Guardiolareturned this Monday to attack the president of Vox, Santiago Abascalthat he already accused … a few days ago “sexist” behavior: “We must not clearly see that there are women who govern firmly,” he told the media.
Guardiola believes the Vox leader has a “personal problem” with her after letting slip that the PP should relieve her or assure that she will have to “go through the hoop” of Bambú’s demands: “I think it is obvious that Mr. Abascal does not like me at all. “He must not be used to someone contradicting him.”
He also joked about the increased presence of the president of Vox in the region on the occasion of the 21D: “Of the two people who appear on the Vox poster, I have to speak to Extremadura”, referring to the candidate Oscar Fernandez Calle. Guardiola said that the person he wants to “debate” with is “the person who is going to run for office, who is not Mr. Abascal”, whom he described as a “tourist” in Extremadura: “Let him spend a lot here, walk around our towns, buy in our stores, eat in our restaurants (…) and enjoy Extremadura”.
As for whether, as of December 21, she would return to government with Vox or not, the popular leader stressed that she had always been “very clear” and that the Extremadurans know their “limits”those he has had and those he will continue to have, he stressed.
Even though none of the polls known so far indicate an absolute majority for the PP, Guardiola recalled that in 2023, no poll suggests that he could govern. He insisted that the survey that matters to him is “that of the street and the affection” that he receives, in his words, in each municipality of the autonomous community.
