The leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, conveyed to Russian President Vladimir Putin his “firm will” to maintain the “sincere alliance” between the two countries, in a message sent to mark the beginning of the year in which he also assured that the Russian people will always have the support and support of the North Korean government and people.

“Dear Comrade Vladimir Putin, I believe that the current alliance between the DPRK (North Korea) and Russia (…) is a valuable common heritage that will last forever, not only in today’s times, but also for posterity, generation after generation (…). Kim designated 2025 as a turning point in bilateral relations between the two countries, “a truly significant year” in which Pyongyang and Moscow “firmly wrote a great biography of the alliance (…) through full and selfless mutual support”, as part of a “sacred common cause”: the war in Ukraine.

In this sense, the North Korean president celebrated that relations between North Korea and Russia “have been further consolidated, during the last days of 2025, in the most sincere alliance of sharing blood, life and death in the same trench.” “Now, no one can break the relations between the people of the two countries and their unity,” he added, defending his “just aspirations” to “straighten history”.
