The United States Trade Representative, Jamieson Greerdeclared this Wednesday (10) that the Trump administration would like to have a “better” commercial relationship with Brazil, and that the American president, Donald Trumphad a “very constructive” dialogue with the president Lula.
The two leaders spoke by telephone earlier this month. On occasion, they discussed topics related to global trade, economics and organized crime.
The rapprochement between Lula and Trump comes after a year marked by tensions between the governments. In July, the American president announced a 50% rate on Brazilian products, in retaliation for the trial led by the Federal Court (STF) against the former president Jair BolsonaroTrump’s ideological ally.
The deepening ties began after the U.N. General Assembly in September, when Trump announced that he and Lula had “great chemistry” during a brief backstage conversation.
“The United States and Brazil must make concessions“, said Jamieson Greer, considering the bilateral relations between the countries.
