The Ministry of Women rejected the attack committed by David Cosac Junior, employee of the General Comptroller of the Union (CGU), against his ex-girlfriend and her four-year-old son, in Águas Claras, in the Federal District. The note was published this Friday (12/26).
“Violence against women and children is a crime and is unacceptable in all circumstances, including when committed by a public official. The Ministry of Women is monitoring appropriate measures and has activated the network to ensure the reception, protection and guarantee of the rights of the victim and her child,” the ministry said.
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) described the episode as “inadmissible” and ordered the immediate opening of internal proceedings to hold the attacker accountable and expel him from public office.
Lula was categorical in stating that “we will not turn a blind eye to abusers of women and children, wherever they are and whatever position they occupy. A civil servant must be an example of conduct inside and outside the workplace.”
The Ministry of Women also highlighted that Minister Vinícius Marques de Carvalho acted quickly and ordered an immediate investigation into the facts and the adoption of appropriate measures with regard to the aggressor.
“In addition to following the file, the Ministry of Women informs that in collaboration with the CGU, the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI) and other organizations, it will continue to invest in the training of civil servants from the entire Federal Public Administration, throughout Brazil, to strengthen prevention, accountability and the institutional culture of respect, protection and human rights,” he stressed.
The ministry emphasizes that in situations of violence, women must seek help. League 180 is free and operates 24 hours a day, every day of the week, throughout Brazil. In case of emergency, call 190.
Domestic violence
The affair was highlighted by the column Mirelle Pinheiro, of Metropolises, who had access to a video showing Davi attacking a woman and a child. The violence occurred around 7:40 p.m. on December 7, in the parking lot of a residential building.
Residents who witnessed the attacks said they called the Federal District Civil Police (PCDF) after learning of the episode. Despite this, the man was not arrested.
In the footage, the woman appears holding the child on her lap, apparently sleeping on her shoulder, when suddenly David walks towards the two and begins to slap the child.
Then the mother and son fall to the ground, but the attacks continue. The listener continues to attack the victims and even pulls the child by the arm. To try to protect him, the woman lies on top of the boy.
After getting up, the man attacks the child again, slapping him violently on the head.
