A Russian military transport plane crashed on Tuesday in Ivanovo, a central Russian region about 250 kilometers northeast of Moscow, killing all seven people on board, authorities said.
“Today in the Ivanovo region, an An-22 military transport aircraft crashed during a test flight after maintenance. The aircraft crashed in an uninhabited area,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
Local emergency services told TASS that the An-22 had seven people on board when it crashed. The Russian Investigative Committee confirmed that all crew members were killed, adding that the circumstances of the incident were being investigated.
Witnesses reported that the An-22 began to disintegrate mid-flight. The wreckage of the plane fell into the Uvod reserve.
