The Christmas Lottery draw varies from one day of the week to the next as it always takes place on December 22. It is therefore on this occasion that “El Gordo” will delight a handful of citizens on Monday.
As it falls on a Monday and, therefore, the day before the usual closure of most physical administrations, some users are wondering when they will be able to buy a ticket for the 2026 Christmas Lottery.
Until what time can you buy the Christmas Lottery?
If the lottery purchase must be made in person, it should be remembered that the majority of physical administrations in Spain close on Sundays. But each official state lottery and betting administration has a different schedule and can make changes to it. It will be each administration that decides whether it should rush the day before the draw to attract last-minute buyers. A spokesperson for the National State Lottery and Betting Company (SELAE) explained to EL PAÍS that on Sunday, administrations that wish to do so will be able to open “remaining within the usual opening limits of the establishment for the purchase of the tenth, until a maximum of 10:00 p.m. or 10:30 p.m. (peninsula time).”
Maximum deadline to buy the Christmas lottery online
If the tenth is purchased online, from the State Lotteries and Betting (SELAE), the spokesperson consulted specifies that “the tenths can be sold until Sunday December 21, until 10:00 p.m. or 10:30 p.m.”.
Find the Christmas lottery number
This EL PAÍS search engine allows you to locate the administration that sells the Christmas Lottery number you want. Just enter the number into the tool and a list of points of sale will be displayed where you can buy the desired tenth. The location plan of each administration provides all the coordinates.
