
Henrique Brown has been named the new CEO of The Coca-Cola Company. The Brazilian-American will replace the current one, James Quinceystarting March 31 next year. Where does the 57-year-old businessman who will take over the management of the soft drinks giant come from in a few months?
Braun was born in California, but he grew up in Brazil. He has dual citizenship. He holds a degree in agricultural engineering from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro and a master’s degree in natural sciences from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Georgia.
Works for Coca-Cola since 1996. He started as a trainee engineer and progressed through various areas until he reached the top: supply chain, new business development, marketing, innovation, general management and bottling operations, among others.
He was director of still beverages in Europe, president of the Latin America unit and president of innovation and operations in Brazil, China and South Korea.
Immediately before his election as CEO, Braun was Executive Vice President and Director of Global Operations.
As previously mentioned, Henrique Braun will replace James Quincey, who has led the company since 2016 and served as CEO since March.
“As I step down as CEO after a 30-year career with the company, I am grateful for what a privilege it has been to serve this great and enduring company,” Quincey said in a statement. “Henrique is a trustworthy and highly experienced business partner.and is the right leader to lead the company and the Coca-Cola system toward future growth and success.”
Coca-Cola announced that the goal of the new CEO will be “Improve the company’s even closer approach to the needs of consumers”.
“It is an honor to take on this new position. and I have great appreciation for everything James has done to lead the company. I will focus on continuing the momentum we have built with our system. We will work to enable future growth in collaboration with our bottlers. “I am excited about the future of our company and see enormous opportunities in a rapidly changing global market,” said Braun.
David WeinbergCoca-Cola’s senior independent director said of the Brazilian: “We are confident that Henrique Braun will build on the company’s existing strengths to unlock further growth opportunities and enhance the performance of the incredible Coca-Cola system.”
