
Karen Rogers, born 1948is a descendant of Italian immigrants to the United States. She is the mother of Ron DeSantiscurrent governor of FloridaAnd worked as a nurse for much of his life.
Accordingly Tallahassee, Rogers met Ronald Daniel DeSantis (1946) at Youngstown State Universityin southeastern Ohio. They are both Ron DeSantis’ parentsthe president of the Sunshine State.
The meeting that started the relationship between Karen and Ronald -who worked as a television installer for the Nielsen company- in Ohio was something that symbolically marked the rise of the governor of Ohio Floridawhere his mother worked as a nurse.
The Republican leader’s parents moved to Florida in the 1970s.. They eventually had their son in Jacksonville. They previously lived in the Mahoning Valley.
Accordingly 21WFMJ, Karen’s father, Philip E. Rogers (DeSantis’ maternal grandfather), was born in Edinburgh, Pennsylvania in 1923. He then moved to Lowellville in 1936, graduated from Lowellville High School in 1942, married Carolyn Delisio in 1946 and moved to Poland in 1954.
Finally, The man graduated from Youngstown University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in public administration.
His grandfather, Antonio Rogers/Ruggiero, emigrated from Italy and changed his last name upon entering the United States
Karen had two siblings: Regina Rogers (DeSantis’ aunt) and Reverend Philip Rogers (her uncle).. Many of them became involved in politics during their professional careers.
Accordingly 21WFMJ, DeSantis’ maternal grandfather was director of the Mahoning County Board of Elections between 1960 and 1968. He was also a board member from 1968 to 1972.
On the other hand, became special assistant to the Ohio Secretary of State during the administration of Governor James A. Rhodes in 1968 and 1969. He also served in the political science department at YSU and was assistant to the vice president for financial affairs.
Oddly enough, like his grandson, he was a member of the Republican Party. His career spanned Mahoning County as a committee member for 40 years, then becoming chairman from 1968 to 1971. He finally retired in 1982 and died in December 1997.
According to the local obituary Christina DeSantis, sister of the governor and daughter of Karen and Ronald, died at age 30 with pulmonary embolism.
Christina died on May 12, 2015when she left her fiancé Stephen Pasiewicz, who is originally from London, England. He was seven years younger than DeSantis and grew up with him throughout his life.
“He graduated from Dunedin High School in 2003; He received his Bachelor of Science Summa Cum Laude in 2007 and his Master of Science in 2010both from Florida State University. He was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority. Christina currently worked as a financial advisor for KPMG Charlotte, North Carolina,” the website states.
