The baby was under the supervision of a caregiver, who noticed that Laura had hanged herself with the seat belt and called the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu).
Laura was looked after by family members when her mother had obligations. However, this Thursday, her mother had to leave her with the caregiver for the first time. The family said they had good references for the place.
In an Instagram post, the girl’s aunt reported what happened and said there was negligence on the part of the caregiver.
“It was the first time she stayed in a daycare. We always had someone in the family to take care of her, so my sister-in-law could work to support the house, but today there was no way for anyone to stay with her, and they recommended this daycare,” the aunt said.
“It was the first day, and this death had already happened. According to the girl from the nursery, who takes care of the children, she left Laura to sleep and after two hours she went to see Laurinha, because she found it strange that she did not wake up, and when she saw her, she was dead. Total negligence,” lamented the family member.
The girl’s death was confirmed at the scene. The Military Police were responsible for preserving the scene until the arrival of the DF Civil Police.
The case is being investigated by the 24th PD.
