The 22-year-old man who killed his ex-girlfriend with more than 20 stab wounds and was arrested by military police in Minas Gerais is Vitor Caetano Figueiredo (featured photo). According to the civil police, he premeditated the crime after learning that the young Mirelly Cristina da Silva, aged 21, was in a new relationship. The crime occurred this Thursday (11/12), in Itaúna (MG) and was recorded by security cameras.

After the femicide, Vitor fled, but was arrested a few hours later at the Belo Horizonte bus station. At the police station, Vitor Caetano confessed to the crime and said he had a relationship with Mirelly for three years. The relationship ended in March this year.

Details of the confession:
- Even though they had no contact, he monitored her routine and frequented Itaúna.
- The trigger: learning that the victim had a new boyfriend. Civil police described the attack as premeditated.
- Vitor admitted to buying a barbecue knife on Monday (8/12) and traveling from Belo Horizonte to Itaúna on Wednesday.
- He went by bus, then called a car via an app, directly to the victim’s home, where he waited for her.
Firefighters, called to respond to the incident, arrived on scene and found Mirelly lying down with multiple puncture wounds. Samu confirmed the death on site.
Police chief João Marcos do Amaral Ferreira described the suspect as cold: “He said he didn’t remember how many blows he gave and he even smiled out of the corner of his mouth during his testimony. »
