
Glaidson Acácio dos Santos (featured photo) is the leader of the business group linked to the billion-dollar scheme to illegally capture investments in cryptoassets, target of an operation by the Federal Police (PF), this Tuesday (12/9), in the Federal District. The information was found exclusively by the column.
Known as the “Pharaoh of Bitcoin,” the 42-year-old is a former waiter, former pastor and businessman. His name made national headlines in 2021, when he appeared in police crosshairs, accused of carrying out a financial scheme that allegedly stole more than 9 billion reais from clients across the country.

In addition to being named as the leader of the fraudulent financial structure, Glaidson also became charged with attempted murder. The victim, identified as Nilson Alves da Silva, was the victim of an attempted murder on March 20, 2021 in Cabo Frio, Lagos region.
The prison
He has been in prison since August 2021, after being identified as the center of one of the largest operations in PF history involving crypto assets.
At the time, around 150 million reais in cryptocurrencies, 14 million reais in cash, dozens of luxury cars, as well as watches and jewelry valued in the millions were seized.
Federal deputy candidate
Even at the center of a thorough investigation, the man asked to register his candidacy for federal deputy with the DC party.
However, his candidacy was challenged in August 2022 by the Regional Electoral Court of Rio de Janeiro.
At the time, he declared to the Electoral Court a total of R$60,450,000.00 in assets, R$450,000 for an “apartment” and R$60 million in “quotas or capital shares”. Glaidson also said he was married, a businessman and claimed to have completed college.
Even with the candidacy under legal control, the criminal obtained more than 37,000 votes
Sentenced
Glaidson was sentenced, in October this year, to 19 years and 2 months in prison for criminal organization and active corruption, as part of Operation New Egypt, led by Gaeco of the Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro.
His right-hand man, Daniel Aleixo Guimarães, known as Dany Boy, was sentenced to 16 years and 4 months. Since 2023, the criminal has been serving his sentence in the Federal Penitentiary of Catanduvas (PR).
