Cruzeiro advances for the Internacional player, already coveted by Palmeiras and Flamengo
THE International finished it Brazilian under enormous pressure and at risk of being relegated until the final round. Despite everything, the defender Vitão closed the season in prestigious fashion. Revealed by Palmeiras, the defender announced that he would not stay at Porto Alegre and is coveted by many clubs, including Flamengo, with an agreement in progress with Cruzeiro.
The arrival of the 25-year-old defender in Belo Horizonte was recommended by the new coach, Tite, who is passionate about his football. The Gauchos should receive two young people in the negotiation, including defender João Marcelo, plus financial compensation close to 7 million euros (R$45.96 million at the current price).
Vitão became one of the star defenders of this last part of the Brazilian season for making few mistakes, even in a club in decline, for being good from the top, also in the offensive part and for still being young. Additionally, he is often a leader on the field when guiding his teammates.
In tight moments, number 4 always stood tall in Porto Alegre. Playing in a structured team can improve your characteristics, even if some fans define you as “technically weak”.
It was enough for the defender to announce his departure from Inter for his name to be investigated with a view to a possible return to Palmeiras, a matter which quickly calmed down. Shortly after, his arrival was announced to Flamengo, champions of the Libertadores and Brasileirão, but the debt between Rio Grande do Sul and Rio de Janeiro owed to midfielder Thiago Maia ended the deal – the red and black wanted to reduce the value of the debt in the deal. Benfica and Betis were also monitoring him.
With a contract until December 2026, the defender could sign a pre-contract in the middle of next year with any club and Internacional would lose him for free. Grateful for his entire time in the South, he has always revealed that he would like to leave the Colorado club in a negotiation beneficial to all parties, which is currently happening.
Vitão arrived at Internacional in April 2022, on loan from Shaktar Donetsk, in accordance with the FIFA rule which allowed negotiations between Ukrainian clubs due to the war in the country. In June, when the contract was due to end, the contract was renewed until the end of 2023.
A year later, in June 2024, Vitão’s contract with Shaktar ends, allowing him to sign with Internacional until the end of 2026. The Rio Grande do Sul club owns 80% of the player’s economic rights, which owns the remaining 20%.
