Marcio Garcia The name is again associated with controversy over a real estate development in Alphaville, Greater São Paulo. The presenter and his wife, Andréa Rosa Garcia, participate as poster children in the promotion of “Ocean Club Alphaville”, a project from the developer NLS Incorp which promises a co-ownership with an artificial beach of 12,000 m² and a wave pool.

The couple’s presence in the countryside increased the visibility of the project and attracted the attention of residents of Alphaville, Santana de Parnaíba and Barueri, who began to question the legal status of the project. According to reports, when consulting the town hall and public databases of urban and environmental authorizations, no registration of building permits, environmental licenses, urban planning directives, impact studies or indication of a technical person linked to the project was found.
According to documents from Barueri City Hall, the sales stand operated without building permits. The inspection identified the installation of metal structures without a permit, without a construction sign or technical manager, in disagreement with the only document issued by the municipality, which only authorized the demolition of existing buildings on the land. Some of these structures ended up being embargoed.
This is where the death of a 17-year-old teenager occurred, electrocuted during activities carried out in the area. The authorities are treating the case as an accident that occurred in a space that already had administrative irregularities. After the episode, the young man’s family and friends demonstrated at the sales stand. The family assures that they have not been contacted by representatives of the companies involved to provide clarification or offer support.
In addition to questions related to permits, residents also point to land obstacles. According to the public records consulted, the land declared as the site of the project is still under inventory, without formal transfer of ownership. The area is described as ecologically sensitive, with the presence of watercourses and native vegetation, which would require a specific environmental authorization process, which, to date, has not been initiated by the relevant agencies.
The Alphaville region has already recorded other announcements of large-scale projects which did not come to fruition due to lack of regularization, some of them widely publicized by influencers and public figures. In this context, the association of Marcio Garcia with the Alphaville Ocean Club has had a greater repercussion, especially because, recently, the actor was cited in a decision of the 1st Chamber of Private Law of the Justice Court of Rio de Janeiro, which noted the lack of recognition of the legal personality of a former commercial company, making it responsible for the company’s debts.
The residents declare that they intend to transmit the collected information to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and other monitoring bodies, to assess possible administrative, environmental and civil responsibilities related to the project.
On social networks, the affair went viral and Internet users spoke out. “Even more deforestation in our neighborhood, it’s the end of our Alphaville,” lamented a user. “An environmental crime revealed through a pretty face. Absurd. You should be ashamed,” wrote another. “Is it really serious that they are going to deforest an area inhabited by several wild animals?” » asked a follower. “A real disregard for the environment. Goodbye to the local fauna and flora. How sad,” comments another. There are also some who mocked the indignation: “I find it super funny that people say ‘no to deforestation’. Where is your house? We are going to demolish them all and replant the trees. What do you think?” provoked an Internet user.

When contacted, NLS Incorp informed, in a memo, that Ocean Club Alphaville is in the initial phase of implementation and that the information disclosed by residents is not accurate. The company has assured that all stages of approval with the relevant bodies will be respected and that the area designated for the project does not include an environmental reserve or native forest.
For the moment, Marcio Garcia’s advisor has not made any comments. The artist and his wife were hired exclusively for advertising activities, without participation in the incorporation, licensing or execution of the works.
