The rapporteur of the Draft Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) of Public Security, MP Mendonça Filho (União Brasil-PE), presented his opinion to the special committee this Wednesday (12/10). The collegiate asked for a collective vision, that is to say more time to analyze the text, and the vote on the Lula government’s project should take place next week.
According to the rules, requests for revision postpone the vote of two sessions of the plenary of the House.
Mendonça presented his report on Tuesday (10/12).
The proposal grants the 26 states and the Federal District the power to legislate on penal policies, prisoner management and prison management. The opinion also expands the resources allocated to public security, by constitutionalizing the National Public Security Fund (Funasp) and the National Prison Fund (Funpen), and determines that the Union must share these resources with states and municipalities.
