The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), shared a retrospective of 2025 with propaganda from his own administration. The social media post refers to Spotify Wrapped, a retrospective of the music platform that went viral last week. “Hello @spotifybrasil! In São Paulo there has been nothing but success!”, he wrote. The publication was accompanied by the song “The Best”, by Tina Turner.

Tarcísio cited five news reports on São Paulo government initiatives. One of them, published in Metropolisesdetails a program of the Social Fund of São Paulo which offers free courses in different regions of the state.
The head of the State Executive also claimed to have delivered around 76,000 new housing units in the last two years, in addition to having increased payments to the SUS board of São Paulo, sent 865 high school students on exchange and put an end to Cracolândia – even though the city recorded new scenes of crack consumption and migration of drug addicts between neighborhoods.

The governor also celebrated the construction of the Santos-Guarujá tunnel and the fight against organized crime, citing 3 billion reais in losses due to trafficking and 656 tons of drugs seized. The message ends with a photo next to First Lady Cristiane Freitas, to whom he has been married for 28 years.
Re-election or presidency
- Tarcísio de Freitas publicly states that he will seek re-election in the state in 2026, although he is among those on the list for the Palácio do Planalto conflict.
- The position was strengthened after the announcement of Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) as Bolsonaro’s candidate for Planalto last week.
- After a period of silence on the subject, Tarcísio emphasized his “non-negotiable” loyalty to Bolsonaro and spoke of the conversation he had with Flávio on Friday morning (12/5), at the Palácio dos Bandeirantes.
- “He spoke, Flavio, about the choice that Bolsonaro made for his name. And that’s it. Flávio will count on us. He now has a great responsibility, he joins other big names in the opposition,” he said.
- The governor, however, says it is too early to evaluate the best candidates for next year.
- Tarcísio is the name most cited by the financial market and by Centrão for the presidency in 2026. Flávio Bolsonaro’s announcement surprised some of these groups and caused a 4% drop in the stock market and a rise in the dollar.
