
Indeed, when he thinks of the Copa do Brasil, Dorival no longer remembers what it’s like not to succeed. He has not been eliminated since 2016, when, at the head of Santos, he fell in the quarter-finals against Internacional. After that, he participated in 15 matches and always took the next step.
Of these, two were definitive. He was champion in 2022, with Flamengo; in 2023, with São Paulo; and now he will once again decide the title as coach of Corinthians. If he wins, he can even consider himself a three-time consecutive champion, since in 2024 he did not participate in the tournament because he was part of the Brazilian team.
Throughout his career, Dorival also won another Copa do Brasil title, in 2010, with Santos. And, almost, they weren’t champions in 2015 either, when the Vila Belmiro club finished second after losing on penalties to Palmeiras.
