The 37th DP (Ilha do Governador) is investigating an accusation of assault by Vila Nova player Gustavo Pajé against a woman, in front of a bar in Ilha do Governador, northern zone of Rio, in the early hours of this Sunday. According to an incident recorded at the police station, Karina Almeida de Sales and her husband, Jefferson Marques dos Santos, were waiting for transportation when the attacker approached her, punched and kicked her.

Still according to the incident, the confusion started around 4 a.m. The couple and friends were about to leave the bar when a group of men approached and one of them bumped into Karina. The woman asked for caution and, according to what was reported at the police station, one of the men, identified as Pajé, began to offend her. According to witnesses, it was visibly modified.
Jefferson intervened and demanded that his wife be respected. She and her husband left the bar. While they were in front of the store, according to a report made at the police station, the man approached Karina again and insulted Karina with insults. Jefferson changed and was held by his friends. The woman tried to approach the attacker and ended up being punched in the chin. She fell and was kicked.
Military police were called but the attacker managed to escape. The case was registered for causing bodily harm by punching, slapping and kicking.
In a note sent to the ge site, Pajé’s office denied these accusations. The defense pointed out that “the publication made on social networks by the alleged victim was also contested by many people present in court, and was subsequently edited with restrictions on comments to avoid exposing a different version of the facts.”
Still speaking, Vila Nova, a team from Goiás, said that Pajé, 20, was on vacation and in contact with the club. The player claimed he did not know the woman and denied taking part in the attacks.
The bar provides images
In a post on their Instagram profile, those responsible for the Ilha do Sol bar said that “all images of what happened” will be made available to the relevant authorities.
The statement also states that the company does not tolerate violence, disrespect or any other type of prejudice. “We are a company committed to the well-being and pleasure of our public”, specifies the text.
