Substitute in Liverpool’s last few games, Mohamed Salah hit back at the club in an interview after the Reds’ 3-3 draw against Leeds United in the Premier League. The Egyptian striker said the club had failed to keep its promises.

“I feel like the club threw me under the bus. That’s how I feel. It’s very clear that someone wanted me to take all the responsibility. I received a lot of promises this summer and so far I’ve been on the bench for three games, so I can’t say they kept their promises,” he said.

Furthermore, the Egyptian also said that he had a good relationship with coach Arne Slot and football manager Richard Hughes, but he no longer maintains one. The player accused that someone no longer wanted him at the club.

“I have already said several times that I have a good relationship with the manager and as a result, we no longer have any relationship. I don’t know why, but it seems to me, in my opinion, that someone does not want me at the club.”

Salah recently renewed his contract with Liverpool for another two years, until 2027, after a lengthy renewal process. The Egyptian declared himself in favor of the club, which he says he supports and loves, in addition to being his children’s team, but he is not satisfied with the situation.

“I always support this club. My children will always support it. I love this club a lot, I always will. I called my mother yesterday. You didn’t know if I was going to play or not, but I knew. Yesterday I said: ‘Come to the game against Brighton (Saturday December 13). I don’t know if I’m going to play or not, but I’m going to enjoy it,’ he said.

The Egyptian left his situation at the club open when he said the match against Brighton could be his last for the club and that he would say goodbye to Reds fans ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations conflict.

“In my mind, I’m going to enjoy this match because I don’t know what’s going to happen. I’ll be at Anfield to say goodbye to the fans and go to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON),” he said.

Salah said he was not the problem in the situation as he had “already done a lot for the club”, but said he did not feel respected. In the player’s opinion, he has earned a place in the starting team.

“But I don’t think I’m the problem. I’ve done a lot for this club. The respect I want to receive. I don’t need to fight every day for my position, because I’ve earned it. I’m not better than anyone else, but I’ve earned my position,” he explained, roaring.

The Egyptian explained that it was not “impossible” to resolve the whole situation that arose during the last matches, but that it could not continue. Furthermore, he left his future at the club up in the air.

“I can’t say it’s impossible (to resolve), but from what I feel, I’ve done a lot for the club, I love the fans and the club a lot. I don’t know what will happen next,” he said.

The player defended himself by claiming that he is the current top scorer in the Premier League, having won the competition last season. In addition to being the best player in the competition.

“With all due respect, I love everyone. I love (Erling) Haaland, I will talk about him. I am the current top scorer in the Premier League (golden boot last season). the media and the fans,” he maintained.

Salah even defended himself by saying that he was at Liverpool and that he had scored more goals than the rest of the players since arriving in the Premier League. He said he was the only one in this situation.

“I’m at this club and I’m scoring more goals than any other player of this generation. Since I came to the Premier League, I don’t think anyone has scored more goals and provided more assists than me. If I was anywhere else, everyone would be looking to the media to defend the players. I’m the only one in that situation,” he said.

He said he was treated differently to Harry Kane, who played for Tottenham, by the English press. The Egyptian argued that as he faces a fast, he is being asked to go to the bank instead of defending him. (

Can I give an example? This is ridiculous, but I’m sorry. I remember a while ago Harry Kane (former Tottenham Hotspur striker) hadn’t scored in 10 games and everyone in the press was saying, ‘Oh, Harry’s going to score for sure.’ But when it comes to Mo, everyone says: “He must stay on the bench.” Sorry, Harry!” he said.

Salah said it hurt him after winning titles and scoring important goals for Liverpool. The Egyptian said his idol Jamie Carragher, who is a television commentator, would attack him this Sunday.

“After what I’ve done for the club, it hurts a lot. Once you leave the house to go to the club, you don’t know if you’re going to start. Tomorrow (Jamie) Carragher (former Liverpool defender turned commentator) will attack me again, and that’s no big deal.”
