The striker opened the scoring for Timão in the Copa do Brasil final and was emotional as he recalled the tough times of the season
Corinthians finished the season exceptionally well. On Sunday evening (21), Timão beat Vasco 2-1, at the Maracanã, and won the Copa do Brasil title for the fourth time in its history.
One of the heroes of the conquest is the striker Yuri Alberto. The player opened the scoring at the Maracanã and finished the year as the team’s top scorer, with 19 goals. After the victory, Yuri vented, remembering the criticism the team received in previous rankings and also commented on the injuries he faced during the season.
“It’s a great celebration, we deserved it so much. All our victories are due to the misfortune of the opponent, they have never been due to the merit of Corinthians. Today we showed with this great title that we deserve a lot, all our work, all the pain that I have endured during this year. To be able to score the goal, to be able to offer another title to this public who deserve it so much”, he said in an interview with TV Globo.
The striker highlighted the honor he feels playing in the black and white jersey. Yuri remembered São Paulo’s title, when he also scored in the final, and went out to celebrate the title with his teammates.
“I feel very honored, it’s an inexplicable support. At the beginning of the year, thank God, we were able to win a title with me by scoring again. God is very good to us, to me, and I will celebrate there with my teammates”, he stressed.
