Zambelli case buries chances for peace between Motta and PT leader

The process of revoking the mandate of Representative Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) should hinder the chances of peace between the President of the Chamber, Hugo Mota (Republicanos-PB), and the leader of the Workers’ Party in the House of Representatives, Lindbergh Farias (RJ).

On Tuesday (2/12), Lindbergh announced that he would sue the STF to force Mota to comply with court orders and revoke, ex officio, Zambelli’s mandate and that of Bolsonaro’s deputy Alexandre Ramajem (PL-RJ).

The Labor leader’s insistence on submitting an appeal to the STF against decisions taken by the Chamber was indeed one of the reasons that prompted the President of the Chamber to cut ties with Lindbergh weeks ago.

In this way, Motta’s allies believe that the new measure directly targeting the Speaker would exacerbate the already troubled relationship between him and the Labor leader in the House of Representatives, burying chances for peace between the two.

The rapporteur of the Zambelli case in the chamber’s Constitution and Justice Committee, Rep. Diego Garcia (Republicanos-PB), warned on Tuesday that he would ask for the MP to be acquitted in his opinion.

According to the rapporteur, it is not possible to “confirm” that the parliamentarian ordered the attack on the system of the National Council of Justice (CNJ), a crime for which the STF was sentenced to 10 years in prison and the loss of its mandate.
