Brazil found itself without a place on the podium at the 2025 Men’s Club World Championship in Belém. This Sunday (12/21), Vôlei Renata lost the bronze medal match against Zawiercie: 3-0 (27-25, 25-19 and 25-21).
This result represents Poland’s fifth medal in the history of the Men’s Club World Cup: three silvers and now two bronzes. The Campinas team was looking for the 14th Brazilian medal, the first of the project.
THE GAME
The end of the first set had a similar result to the tiebreak between the two teams in the group stage. Today Vôlei Renata had 24 against 21 and could not close. A few days ago the advantage was 12 to 8 for the Campinas team, which also caused an upset.
Acerola was in good form in the match and had a success rate of over 60% when he scored Campinas’ 24th point. And then he didn’t receive any more balls to attack in the rest of the half.
Michal Winiarski replaced Boladz with Ensing. Another gamble of the match played a decisive role: veteran center Gladyr saved a set point by blocking Adriano and then sealed the victory with an ace.
All this had a huge impact on the Campinas team after the match. Zawiercie immediately took the lead in the second set and was able to play looser, taking risks on serve.
The Poles dominated the third half, but without taking a comfortable advantage. In the final stretch, once again, Zawiercie had the composure to close, relying on his heavy blocks.
American Russell led the scoring with 16 hits, followed by Kwolek and Bieniek, with 13 each. For Vôlei Renata, Adriano scored 11, one more than Acerola.
